New Interdistrict Permit

There are two types of interdistrict permits:

1. An approved Interdistrict Release Permit allows a student to leave his/her school district of residence (where they live) to apply to another school district (Wiseburn).
2. An approved Interdistrict Attendance Permit allows a non-Wiseburn resident student to attend a Wiseburn school.

Applications for the 2026-2027 school year will be available on January, 5 2026. Applications will be completed through PowerSchool Enrollment.

Approval notification will be sent via email once space availability is determined and notifications may occur on a rolling basis during the months of February through August. For permit applications submitted after the first day of school, the District will issue approval notifications within 30 days of submission. Permit approval is subject to space. Please ensure that your child is enrolled in your home school of residence while you are waiting to hear whether your child has been approved for a permit with Wiseburn.

Although not a guarantee, Wiseburn does its best to accommodate siblings based on space available in the applicable grade.

No, parent employment only helps you to be released from your district of residency. Permit approvals are based on space availability.

Parents/guardians are responsible for providing transportation to and from school for students who are approved on an interdistrict permit.

Students who enroll in Wiseburn on an interdistrict permit currently do not need to reapply each year. Assuming all provisions outlined in the Interdistrict Attendance Permit Agreement are met, students currently attending on an interdistrict permit will be allowed to remain in the District until they leave or are promoted from the 8^th grade.

If you are not a resident, you will need to get a release permit from your district of residency.

Yes, your child is still guaranteed a seat to return to his/her district of residency.

School districts typically will only issue one release permit, once a year with the exception of military families who under the Hadley Bill - SB 306, are able to apply for a release permit to more than one school district.

Yes, we accept families from all surrounding school districts, and yes, there is an enrollment cap for Hawthorne and Lawndale School Districts only. Wiseburn entered into an agreement in 2012 with these two school districts regarding the number of permit requests that Wiseburn can approve from these districts each school year. Once the enrollment cap is reached for any of these districts, Wiseburn will not be able to accommodate any more permit requests for that school year.

No, regardless of whether or not your child has been accepted on permit, we recommend that you submit an application to ensure your child's placement and schedule in this program.  Wiseburn has partnered with Right At School to offer families high-quality, enriching, and flexible before- and after-school programs.
