Release Permits

1. Fill out the Release Permit Application and the Exit Interview Form
2. Submit the following documents with your application:
   1. Valid California Driver's License or California ID (showing current home address where you reside)
   2. One current utility statement received or postmarked within the last 30 days with the parent/guardian name
   3. Documentation to support the reason for the request:
      1. Continuing Student - must provide a copy of the student's most recent report card
      2. Parent Employment - must provide a letter or most recent pay stub from parent's employer
      3. Child Care - must provide a letter or proof of enrollment from the childcare provider
      4. Sibling - must provide a copy of the sibling's most recent report card
      5. Specialized Program
      6. Other - parent must provide written explanation and provide supporting documentation

Please Note: Incomplete applications will not be processed and will be abandoned after 30 days.

The Interdistrict Attendance Release Permit Application will be available as a fillable PDF on the District's website on March 1, 2024 for the 2024-25 school year.

Allow twenty (20) business days for the Permit Department to process the request and notify the applicant. Issuance of the outgoing permit by Wiseburn does not guarantee acceptance by the requested school or district.

Yes, regardless of whether or not your child did not attend a Wiseburn school, you must be released from Wiseburn.

No, once an Interdistrict Permit has been granted, your child is not required to reapply unless your child is no longer enrolled at the school district the release permit was issued to.

Only one permit application may be submitted per student/per school year.

Parents/guardians are responsible for providing transportation to and from school for students who are approved for an outgoing interdistrict release permit to a school outside the district.

If the permit is denied, you have the right to appeal the decision, in writing, within 20 calendar days from the date of the denial to the Wiseburn Unified School District Superintendent/Designee at emalott@wiseburn.org.

If the appeal is denied, you have the right to appeal this decision, in writing, within 30 calendar days from the date of the denial notice, to the Los Angeles County Board of Education (LACOE). 1. Enroll your child at his/her home school. Once enrollment is completed, please contact your home school secretary to request an Intradistrict Attendance Release Application.
2. The school secretary will email you the application. Fill out the Intradistrict Release Permit Application and submit the following documentation that applies for the reason of your request:
   • Parent Employment - must provide a letter or most recent pay stub from parent's employer
   • Child Care - must provide a letter or proof of enrollment from the childcare provider
   • Sibling - must provide a copy of the sibling's most recent report card
   • Other - parent must provide written explanation and provide supporting documentation
3. Email the application and supporting documents to your home school secretary.

On January 8, 2024. First, enroll your child at his/her home school. Once enrollment is completed, please contact the home school secretary to request an Intradistrict Attendance Release Permit Application.

Approval notification will be sent via email once space availability is determined and notifications may occur on a rolling basis during the months of February through the first week of school. Please ensure that you have completed the enrollment and registration paperwork with your home school of residence while you are waiting for notification regarding your permit request.
