WUSD Educational Services: WUSD Finalizes MTSS Grant Efforts

Generous funding from the California Scale Up Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Initiative Grant has enabled the WUSD team of teachers, school counselors, and psychologists as well as site and district administrators to research and promote strategies to support all students in their academic and social-emotional learning.

As a result, over the past two years, WUSD has increased data-based conversations to identify priorities and steps needed to advance efforts and formatively assess student progress.

MTSS is a 3-tiered system that includes universal supports for all students within the classroom, small group interventions for students to receive additional instruction, and intensive, individualized support for students beyond the classroom.

In addition, the grant allowed all sites to participate in professional learning related to teacher leadership, introducing the Guiding Coalition teams and MTSS tiered structures which continue to develop on all campuses.
