Wiseburn USD proudly announces Susan Castellanos, office manager at Anza Elementary School, as this year's Classified Employee of the Year. Nominated by her colleagues for her exceptional work performance, school community involvement, and leadership, Susan has been an integral part of Anza Elementary for several years.

“When you think of someone dedicated, supportive, and welcoming, Susan Castellanos is that person. She's always there to help, and she makes everyone feel so welcome, whether they’re students, or staff, or parents and families,” said WUSD Superintendent Blake Silvers. “Susan really is the essence of the type of spirit we hope to have here in Wiseburn, and she is a big part of ensuring Anza is the friendly and welcoming place that we all know it to be."

Susan has become a treasured employee at Anza Elementary over her nine years on staff. As any who have interacted with her know, her presence radiates positivity.

“Her warm and friendly demeanor makes every interaction a positive experience,” said Anza PTA parent Michelle Sanders.

Walk into the front office and you’ll find Susan assisting anyone who comes through Anza’s doors, helping the school run smoothly, and ensuring that parents, teachers, administrators, and students are provided with the support that they need.

As part of her nomination, Anza Principal Alberto Paredes commended Susan for her positive attitude, dedication, and expertise, and highlighted her ability to remain calm under pressure.

"Mrs. Castellanos is an outstanding employee! She always goes above and beyond to ensure that everyone at Anza has what they need to be successful," Alberto said.

Susan is also a cherished asset to the school community. Over the years, she has displayed unwavering dedication to Anza through her strong relationships with teachers, parents, and administrators. While serving as a liaison between the Anza Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and teachers, Susan also actively participates on the Anza School Site Council (SSC) and holds an important role as the office manager. As a member of various school organizations, she always advocates for what is best for students and the community.

“Her contributions to our school are truly invaluable,” Michelle said, “and I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition.”

Managing the Anza office with patience and a smile, Susan ensures that the school runs smoothly, even when she is off campus. In addition to her responsibilities at Anza, Susan is also responsible for maintaining and updating multiple calendars and managing summer school for Wiseburn USD. She assigns teachers classrooms, develops procedures, and makes sure that students and teachers have all materials needed for a successful summer program.

Susan is not only an asset to Anza Elementary, but to the entire Wiseburn School District. As the Classified Employee of the Year, she serves as an inspiring example of dedication, commitment, and everyday excellence.
