Wiseburn USD’s 2023 Teacher of the Year inspires students and colleagues alike

For over a decade, teacher Aimee Glotz has been a beacon of inspiration for students and fellow teachers at Dana Middle School.

Wiseburn USD proudly celebrates Aimee Glotz, a sixth grade English Language Arts (ELA) teacher at Dana Middle School, as Wiseburn’s Teacher of the Year for 2023. The prestigious Teacher of the Year award recognizes outstanding commitment to excellence, dedication to students, leadership, and participation as a member of the school team.

“Since her first day in Wiseburn, Aimee has been an exceptionally thoughtful teacher who always goes the extra mile for her students. She constantly strives for improvement in both her own teaching practices and student achievement, and she is highly collaborative with colleagues,” said WUSD Superintendent Blake Silvers. “Everyone who knows her knows that she is a professional educator through and through. Wiseburn is lucky to have her.”

For over a decade, Aimee has been a beacon of inspiration for students and fellow teachers. Ashley Beukema, a fellow teacher at Dana Middle School, praised Aimee for her work ethic and unwavering commitment.

"Aimee takes pride in everything she does for Dana Middle School, offering support and guidance with a kind heart whenever there is a need," Ashley said.

Step into Aimee’s classroom and you’ll immediately feel welcomed and encouraged to engage in thought-provoking work. With her individualized posters, reading challenges, and high expectations, Aimee creates an environment where her sixth graders feel heard and appreciated.

“Aimee is a dynamic and talented teacher who is always improving her craft for the benefit of all her students,” said Dana Principal Kiana Clark. “She is collaborative, opening her classroom to other teachers and seeking to learn from her fellow educators. Her dedication to the students, staff and school is inspiring.”

A supportive and accessible colleague, Aimee also encourages observation of her practice and supports new teachers, even serving as a leader for several committees, BTSA mentoring, and more.

"She constantly provides new ideas and single-handedly has been the most inspiring teacher for me to follow in my practice," said Rachel Humphrey, a fifth grade teacher at 138th St. School.

Aimee's involvement and commitment in various committees make her an invaluable asset to the school. She helps new teachers navigate their first years of teaching, consistently volunteers to lead projects, and always follows through. A key member of the The Sea Star team at Dana, Aimee is known for her effective and clear communication.

"Aimee goes above and beyond to ensure her practice is well planned, meets all standards, and challenges students appropriately," Humphrey said, emphasizing Aimee's dedication and impact on the school community.

Not only does Aimee collaborate with every individual at her school to ensure unity, but she also serves on the teacher’s union board, sharing her knowledge and skill set with other Wiseburn educators.

"Aimee will help provide ideas and inspiration to any colleague, not just at her own school site," adds Humphrey.

She carries herself as a valued member of the district, speaking highly of others, demonstrating care for colleagues, and showing passion for the district's success. Every Friday, you can even find Aimee after school at the staff exercise program — Dolphin Fit — engaging and supporting her fellow colleagues.

Wiseburn is honored to recognize Aimee Glotz for her remarkable contributions to students, staff, and the district. Congratulations, Aimee Glotz, for being this year’s Teacher of the Year!
