Wiseburn USD Proudly Serves... Healthy Meals

WUSD Food Services introduces “California Free Meals for All”
(Breakfast & Lunch)

Wiseburn has been offering free lunch for all students during the 2021-22 school year thanks to temporary waivers granted by the USDA during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thankfully, "California Meals for All" is set to begin with the first day of the 2022-23 school year, which permits us to continue providing 100% free meals for 100% of Wiseburn students!

So what is new with "California Meals for All"?
  • All students eat for free – "CA Meals for All" ensures daily access to free breakfast and free lunch for all students on regular school days, regardless of program eligibility. Breakfast will be served between 8 am and 8:20 am for 1st through 8th Grade students and between 8 am and 8:35 am for TK and Kindergarten students.
  • IMPORTANT: School site and classroom funding depend on parents completing the "Alternate Income Form". The link for the Alternate Income Form will open in the middle of August 2022 and will be available on the District website as well as each school's website.
    • The District receives additional funding for students who qualify under the Alternate Income Form. This additional funding helps support the PE Program, the Music Program and the additional counselors.
    • Students eligible under the Alternate Income Form may apply for additional benefits, for example discounts on home internet services, utilities assistance, fee waivers for college applications, SAT/ACT and Subject Test fee waivers, scholarships, financial aid etc.
  • Free meals foster a more positive culture around school meals – Children can focus on learning instead of being hungry or feeling uncomfortable choosing school meals. Wiseburn USD will continue serving delicious meals.
  • School meals are healthy – Having a consistent option for healthy meals helps nourish students to prepare them for life inside and outside the classroom.
