October 2026 Message from the Superintendent

Superintendent Blake Silvers reflects on a strong start to the school year, including Back-to-School Nights across Wiseburn and the momentum building as the District heads into October. He also celebrates Brandy Garcia's LACOE Teacher of the Year recognition and Lauren Shakstad's recognition through the Mazda Community Legends program with the Los Angeles Chargers football team.

Six Concepts, One Shared Language: WMS Launches the Dolphin Community Project

Wiseburn Middle School kicked off the Dolphin Community Project on Friday, Sept. 25, with student assemblies and a PTSA Community Coffee for families, both led by Tzedek America. Students and parents explored the same six ideas, beginning with the difference between what we mean to say and how our words or actions affect someone else, so the conversation can continue at home.

Wiseburn is proud to celebrate Brandy Garcia, 8th grade math teacher at WMS, who represented our district at the annual Los Angeles County Teachers of the Year Awards on September 25. Brandy was named the Wiseburn USD 2026 Certificated Employee of the Year for her dedication to students, leadership, and lasting impact.

Alumni Spotlight: Full Circle—How Da Vinci Alum Angeline Cuevas Returned to Inspire the Next Generation

Some stories come full circle in the most meaningful ways. Angeline Cuevas’ journey is one of them. After attending Wiseburn Middle School, Angeline went on to graduate from Da Vinci Design in the Class of 2020. She grew up in classrooms shaped by collaboration, creativity, and connection. Today, she stands on the other side of the desk—as a passionate Core 4 Teacher at Da Vinci Connect TK-8—bringing those same values to a new generation of students.
