As we approach summer, we hope families are able to take a true break and rest, restore, and safely connect with loved ones. As a reminder, over the summer families can still use the resources of Care Solace to find community mental health service providers.

District Department Updates
Celebrate the arts with the annual Take Part Festival
Tune into the virtual Take Part Festival on June 5 at 10 a.m. to see student performances, art exhibits, music, dance and more! A collaboration between school districts and organizations, the Take Part Festival is a celebration of the arts that Wiseburn has been a part of for nearly a decade.
Help the ACTS Committee establish a special events calendar
Our district has so much to celebrate. As we saw during Anza’s multicultural event in 2020 that took place before our COVID-19 shutdown, our Wiseburn community loves learning about and celebrating each other’s cultures and traditions!
In an effort to celebrate each other and continue education related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, our ACTS Committee is assisting with a district-wide collaborative effort to recognize special events celebrated by members of our WUSD community.
We have started a list of events being considered for inclusion in our 2021-2022 special events calendar and view this process as a community effort to help ensure everyone is represented. We invite you to review these events, then share your thoughts by June 9 on dates/events/celebrations that are important to you but are not yet listed.
Highlights from Our Schools
Cabrillo is so proud of our Cubs! As we draw close to the end of the year, each classroom cohort is celebrating and reflecting in their own way. From art projects to memory books, the bonds that students have formed in their small groups are strong and worthy of remembering.
To further celebrate safely, the Cabrillo PTA is sponsoring the In'n'Out and Kona Ice trucks in the Cabrillo Parking lot on June 15 at 5:30 p.m. Tickets for Cabrillo families must be pre-purchased at cabrillopta.org.
We're wrapping up the year here at Anza, and want to congratulate all of our students, families, and staff on a job well done!
For our 5th graders, we’ll be holding a promotion ceremony Wednesday, June 16th at 11:00 a.m. on our school field. The Gate will open at 10:00 a.m. for check-in. Students are allowed to have two pre-registered guests in attendance due to COVID-19 safety protocols, but the events will also be livestreamed on Anza’s Youtube page for family and friends that could not attend and wish to view. More details are forthcoming directly from Anza.
We also want to recognize three individuals who together have a combined 85 years of service to our wonderful school district: Ray Vaquer, Barbara Greene, and Irene Umbarger. Last week, we had the chance to honor these three at a school board meeting, and again we thank them for their service and commitment to our school and district!
138th St. School
138th Street School is celebrating our students and the amazing work they have accomplished in this tumultuous year. Read our update letter to learn more about our T-shirt contest, "Bulldogs Got Talent!", and our first-ever promotion ceremony!
Dana Middle School
Dana is excited and proud to celebrate our 8th grade graduates with two promotion ceremonies. On June 17th, Dana will be hosting on-site promotions for Team Wave of Confidence (10:00 am) and Team Tiger Sharks (2:00 pm). These Dolphins are sure to make a splash in their future endeavors.
