Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
with the ACTS Committee

WUSD is committed to supporting a community where every student, family, teacher, and staff member feels seen and supported. As part of this commitment, Wiseburn ACTS (Achieving a Culture of Togetherness and Support) is a committee whose members strive to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) so that every single person feels valued and respected.

ACTS
Resource for talking with students about violent and hateful acts

With heavy hearts, we continuously face reports of tragedy, including school shootings and alleged hate crimes. Sometimes, the process of determining how to talk to students about violent and hateful acts is challenging and may feel overwhelming. Wiseburn ACTS has provided a helpful resource for families with information on this topic, as well as links to additional supports such as our counseling teams and Care Solace.

Dana Middle School: HoodSpace LA empowers the Dana Girls Soccer Team

On May 31st, the Dana Girls Soccer Team welcomed the non-profit organization HoodSpace LA, led by professional soccer player Sarah Gordon (Angel City FC). The clinic included a soccer skills session, meditation and yoga, food, and Q&A with professional athletes. 138th St. School
138th St. School: Jokes with Julie engages entire campus

Julie Walker, our lead counselor for 138th Street School, has made a name for herself by telling jokes at our weekly Wednesday assemblies. You may have heard from your student about "Jokes with Julie," a segment of our weekly tradition that promotes positive school culture and student engagement as she shares jokes provided by students on our campus. Thank you for bringing the laughs each week, Julie!

Cabrillo
Cabrillo Elementary School: Elevating the cub experience with help from the community

Cabrillo is pleased to have welcomed the returned support of our community members and volunteers to campus! From approved parent volunteers assisting in the classroom, to DaVinci Design students running art lessons, to adult learners from the Futures Plus Program gaining work experience by helping with clerical and maintenance tasks — these individuals help us elevate our Cubs by providing engaging activities and support for our school. Cabrillo is so grateful for our Wiseburn Community!
