School Renaming Exploration Process

The citizens advisory committee acts as a guide or organizer of information to the broader community, fostering a constant feedback loop among the citizens advisory committee, community, and Wiseburn Board of Trustees. This committee meets regularly to research and report out findings about current and proposed namesakes, and if those namesakes align with our District assurances.

During the first semester of the 2021-22 school year, the district aims to assemble and advise the citizen advisory committee, which will collectively explore current and prospective namesakes for school sites through discussion, deliberation, and transparent two-way communication with the broader community. The proposed process is as follows:

Currently, we have a few main ways that our friends, families, and community members can be involved in this process:

1) Respond to the latest community survey.
At each stage of the renaming process, Wiseburn requests feedback from community members. After exploring the resources on our renaming portal, community members are invited to provide feedback directly to the committee through these surveys.

2) Stay informed and sign up for the school renaming email group.
The citizens advisory committee puts in time and effort to compile critical information on our current namesakes and other research. Following each meeting, digests are sent out to our school renaming email group. Signing up for this email group ensures community members will stay informed and be the first to receive the community surveys. You can also view past updates in the "School Renaming News and Email Group Updates" below. 3) Send questions and thoughts directly to the committee.
On the renaming portal, members of the community can easily share thoughts directly with the committee by submitting them through the "Send a message to the Committee" form, right from the webpage.
