Offering support following recent events in the media
The Wiseburn counseling team offers support and resources for students and families.
In Wiseburn USD, we remain committed to ensuring a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment in each of our schools. This includes ensuring all have the support they need. In light of the recent news of mass shootings, incidents of state violence against communities of color such as with Tyre Nichols, and other reports, we have compiled resources and links to support our students and families.
We understand that what is happening in the news may impact students, staff, and families. Children may have questions, and/or feel the need to talk about what they have seen. Below, find resources that may be applicable to recent media coverage of local and national incidents.
- A story is a great way to check-in with kids about how they're feeling and what they have noticed about what's going on around them. Click here for a read-aloud for the children's book "The Breaking News," which is about a young girl who learns that when big news rattles the community, one small act of kindness can make a difference in a big way
