Your Compass for School Counseling Services
Our elementary and middle school counseling departments are committed to ensuring every child is understood, valued, and empowered. Our mission is to foster an environment that is not only academically stimulating, but also emotionally supportive and inclusive.
About WUSD's Counseling Services
- At the heart of Wiseburn's schools, our counseling team is devoted to creating an atmosphere of kindness, support, acceptance, and security by addressing the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students.
- We offer personalized counseling services, including academic guidance, personal development, and social skills — ensuring that every child feels safe, included, prepared, and ready to learn.
- Our ongoing family workshops invite parents and children to learn, discuss, and grow together, strengthening the family bond and community fabric.
- Families are encouraged to engage with our team through direct email to connect and/or schedule a meeting, ensuring easy access to the support they need.
How to Access Counseling Services
For Students:
- Self-Referral: Students can easily request counseling services through SchoolsPLP or talking to any member of our staff. Students at WMS may also submit a request using the middle school counseling referral form below. In emergencies, it's crucial to inform an adult immediately.
For Parents/Caregivers:
- Requesting Counseling: A simple counseling request form allows parents or caregivers to initiate the counseling process, ensuring their child receives the support they need. Use the buttons below to access the forms.
The Counseling Process: What to Expect
-
Initial Assessment
Upon receiving a referral, the counselor conducts a comprehensive intake with the student to understand their needs and concerns.
-
Determining the Next Steps
Based on the intake, we outline a personalized support plan. This may include ongoing counseling services within the school or, if needed, referral to external resources like Hazel Health or Care Solace for additional support.
-
Continued Support
Our commitment is to provide continuous support, adapting to the evolving needs of our students and ensuring their well-being and success.
